Brief Profile

Shri Piyush Srivastava, IES:1993 is a senior officer of the Indian Economic Service with over three decades of experience in economic policy, public administration, development programmes and policy formulation in the Government of India.

Shri Srivastava joined the Indian Economic Service in 1993. During his distinguished career, he has held several important assignments across key Ministries and Departments of the Government of India, gaining wide-ranging experience in economic affairs, public policy, development administration and sectoral policy.

He served as Additional Development Commissioner in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) from July 2016 to July 2021. During this period, he was entrusted with important responsibilities relating to various MSME development programmes and policy areas. His work involved matters concerning the development and promotion of micro and small enterprises, infrastructure, clusters and other important initiatives of the MSME sector.

Thereafter, Shri Srivastava served as Senior Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Civil Aviation from July 2021 to March 2026. During his tenure, he handled economic and policy-related responsibilities across the Ministry and its associated areas, gaining extensive exposure to the functioning of the civil aviation sector.

Since March 2026, Shri Srivastava has been serving as Senior Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Rural Development, Department of Rural Development. In his present assignment, he is associated with important policy and development matters relating to rural development, including rural housing and other programmes aimed at improving the living conditions and socio-economic well-being of disadvantaged and deprived sections of society.
