PROGRAMME ON “RURAL HOUSING” FOR HOUSING FINANCE COMPANIES , SCHEDULED COMMERCIAL BANKS, REGIONAL RURAL BANKS(RRBS) & CO-OPERATIVE INSTITUTIONS (ACHFS/ARDBS) IN UDAGAMANDALAM (OOTY, TAMIL NADU) ON MAY 29-30, 2008

THE PROGRAMME

Housing finance market has witnessed a significant growth especially in the last few years but still only limited market segments have access to institutional housing credit and therefore the potential for large investments in the housing sector specially rural housing sector has not been realized yet. Thus there is a need to understand lending issues in rural sector along with various government initiatives in promoting rural housing in India.

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME

The programme is aimed to familiarize the participants with formal housing finance system with specific reference to rural housing. The participants would be made aware of the various Initiatives of the Government in promoting rural housing in the country. The scope and challenges of the rural housing finance market for lenders will also be discussed.

DESIRED PARTICIPANT PROFILE

The programme is suitable for Junior/Middle level officers of Banks, Housing Finance Companies, Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and co-operative sector institutions (ACHFS & ARDBs). Each institution may nominate a maximum of 3 participants.
